Miller-Valentine recently completed manufacturing facility improvements through a design/build delivery for GKN Aerospace. The manufacturing improvements are related to the Boeing 787 Floor Section 47 Program. These improvements, coupled with the existing assembly work in the building will increase the capacity of the facility to better serve the industry. The GKN Aerospace manufacturing facility has been master planned in order to meet the demands of the expanding aerospace components assembly industry in Charleston and throughout the southeast.
“Our continued partnership with Miller-Valentine in our Orangeburg assembly facility has helped GKN to service the growing opportunities in the aerospace industry in the southeast,” said Bill Beard, Vice President of GKN Aerospace South Carolina. “Over the longer term we expect this facility to serve a range of aerospace customers on assembly tasks across civil and military aviation.”
With operations in more than 30 countries, GKN is a global engineering business serving the automotive, aerospace, and land system markets. GKN Aerospace splits its business along military and civil lines with significant participation on all major aircraft programs.
