BASF ECMS Teams Step Up to Support Communities Affected by Recent Storms in Upstate South Carolina

As with many companies and people in the Upstate, the teams at the BASF ECMS sites in Converse and Seneca were affected in numerous ways by the recent storms that devastated the region.

Like many, BASF ECMS team members volunteered to help and support their neighbors.

“At BASF ECMS, our strength lies in our people,” said Jerome Kirkland, Site Director at BASF Converse. “Ensuring our employees were well-supported allowed them to focus on caring for their families and communities during this challenging time.”

The Converse site in Spartanburg County assisted in providing employee meals at the plant; provided six generators for employee use; and provided grocery gift cards to all employees.

At the Seneca site, they assisted in providing employee meals at the plant; provided 25 generators for employee use; provided grocery gift cards to all employees and 16 employees volunteered to assist a fellow employee in cutting and removing trees/limbs from his property.

In addition, in partnership with Seneca Fire Department, they donated the following to help people in Western North Carolina.

• Two pallets of bottled water
• 40 bulk cases of diapers
• Four bulk cases of baby formula
• Various hygiene and storm clean-up materials:
  • N95 Masks
  • Feminine hygiene products and soap
  • Toilet paper
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Garbage bags

ECMS Seneca also donated 15 Tyvek suits to the Celo, North Carolina community. This PPE is needed to support the cleanup of the toxic “flood mud” from the storm.

“Our team stepped up when it was time to support our communities,” said Elba Lizardi, Site Director at BASF Seneca. “BASF ECMS may be a global company, but our employees live, work, and play locally in the Upstate. We were proud to support our employees, who are also our friends and neighbors, while also partnering with the Seneca Fire Department to assist relief efforts in Western North Carolina.”
