Growing up in South Carolina, my twin brother Joe and I were big fans of South Carolina Public Television. We were particularly drawn to NatureScene, a show hosted by the late Naturalist, Rudy Mancke. His love for our state’s plants, animals, and environmental ecosystems fascinated us and sparked a lasting interest in the natural world.
Inspired by Rudy’s passion, Joe and I started South Carolina Manufacturing. We wanted to do our part to help the Palmetto State by showcasing its rich manufacturing history and future.
DISCOVERING SOUTH CAROLINA; WHO WAS CARROLL CAMPBELL?
Our goal was to highlight the many different jobs and opportunities available in this sector, and to celebrate the hardworking people who contribute to our state’s economy.
As we embarked on this journey, we dreamed of sharing our work on SCETV, the same channel where we first discovered Rudy Mancke. We hoped to meet him and share our mutual love for South Carolina’s landscapes and industries. Sadly, our dream did not come true. We were close to having our manufacturing showcase featured on SCETV, but it did not work out. However, his lasting impact and influence is evident in our commitment to making South Carolina a better place.
IT’S BEEN 35 YEARS; SC NATIVE LOST WITH CHALLENGER
Remembering Rudy, I also want to honor my twin brother and our shared goal. Although we did not meet him, the spirit of NatureScene and Rudy’s memory lives on in our hearts. We are determined to continue his legacy by working to preserve and improve the Palmetto State for future generations.
