SCMA Elects 2015-2016 Chairman

The South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance (SCMA) has elected Mr. Roger Schrum, Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Affairs for Sonoco Products Company, to serve as Chairman of the 2015-2016 Board of Directors.

It is through sound policy that creates a business environment conducive to meaningful capital investments and new jobs that will have a positive generational impact for all South Carolinians. The SCMA is committed to ensuring that the state’s economic future is one that can be competitive in a global economy, and I look forward to continuing that goal.”

Mr. Schrum has more than 30 years of business communications management experience for five Fortune 500 energy and manufacturing companies. He currently is Vice President of Investor Relations and Corporate Affairs for Sonoco Products Company, a $5 billion revenue global provider of industrial, consumer and protective packaging products and services. He is responsible for Sonoco’s investor relations, marketing communications, sustainability, public relations and public affairs activities.  He serves as the Chair of the Company’s Sustainability Council and the Sonoco Foundation, the Company’s philanthropic arm.

In addition to being an active member of the SCMA, Mr. Schrum serves on the Board of Directors  of the South Carolina Business and Industry Education Committee;  South Carolina AgriBusiness Alliance; Northeast Strategic Alliance, Central Carolina Community Foundation; YMCA of the Upper Pee Dee and the Coker College Board of Visitors. He previously served on the Executive Committee of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce’s Board of Directors; was twice Chair of the Greater Hartsville Chamber of Commerce..

Mr. Schrum resides in Hartsville, South Carolina, with his wife, Connie. They have four grown children.
